The Hive in June: What's Been Buzzing!

June brought a real sense of momentum across the hub. Our Founders Day Café turned the spotlight on a conversation we do not have often enough, marking Men's Mental Health Month with an honest exchange about the well-being behind the work of building. It was a timely reminder that thriving founders, not just thriving products, are what sustain an ecosystem.
Behind the scenes, the ventures in the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship moved into an important new phase, shifting from planning towards building as they take their solutions closer to the classrooms and learners they are designed to serve. Alongside them, our members, partners and wider community kept the hub buzzing with the collaborations, ideas and everyday hustle that make this space what it is.

Exploring a partnership with UNFPA Uganda

This month we sat down with UNFPA Uganda to explore how our two organisations might work together. It was an encouraging first conversation about where our work in innovation and entrepreneurship meets UNFPA's mission, and we are looking forward to shaping what a partnership could grow into in the months ahead.
Reconnecting with Startup Uganda

We also reconnected with Startup Uganda, the secretariat coordinating innovation hubs across the country, and we are glad to be building on that relationship. Our first joint step comes in July: together we are convening The Founder's Budget Brief on 9th July, a live podcast panel that translates Uganda's FY2026/27 national budget into practical guidance for founders, investors, and the wider ecosystem. Hive Colab is proud to host the session at our Kampala offices. Follow both our social media pages for updates.
Our Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship fellow, Wokober, on EdTech Mondays

It was wonderful to see one of our Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship ventures, Wokober Education Foundation, take the spotlight on EdTech Mondays this month. Moments like these are exactly what the Fellowship is about: giving Ugandan education innovators a platform to share their work and reach new audiences.
Highlight reel: Founders Day Café

We closed the month with a Founders' Day Café, unlike our usual. For Men's Mental Health Month, we welcomed Dr Raymond Mugume, psychiatrist and CEO of MindFit Systems, for “The Founder's Mind: Protecting Mental Health on the Entrepreneurial Journey.” It was an honest conversation about the pressure and isolation founders rarely speak about, why well-being is the foundation everything else is built on, and the practical ways founders and the people around them can protect it.
