The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship is a selective growth partnership for EdTech ventures already working in the Ugandan context and ready to strengthen scale, sustainability, and learning impact.
EdTech ventures that are locally founded and locally led, operating at growth stage, with a working product and evidence of traction serving learners in Uganda. Priority is given to ventures serving underserved communities.
Fellows receive catalytic funding, structured curriculum, one-on-one mentorship, partnership support, learning science guidance, and investor readiness advisory.
The Fellowship runs for 12 months, followed by up to 24 months of post-acceleration support focused on growth, market access, fundraising, and long-term sustainability. It is structured in two phases: design for inclusion and acceleration for responsible scale.
Yes. Applications for Cohort 2 are open from 21 September 2026 until 21 November 2026 at 12:00am EAT. Apply at edtech.hivecolab.com/apply. Late applications will not be considered.
Applications open on 21 September 2026 and close on 21 November 2026. Information sessions run before and during the application window; dates and registration links are published on this site and our social channels. Shortlisting, interviews, and due diligence follow, and applicants are notified of the outcome by 21 December 2026.
Yes, and we encourage it. The panel assesses where your venture is now, not where it was in the last round.
Your application is used solely to evaluate applications to the Fellowship, conduct due diligence, design and monitor the programme, and meet donor compliance requirements. Data is processed in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019, the Data Protection and Privacy Regulations 2021, and Hive Colab’s Data Protection Policy and retained for 24 months after the selection process closes. No. Applying to the Fellowship is completely free at every stage. Hive Colab and the Mastercard Foundation will never ask you for payment in connection with your application, and anyone who does so is not acting on our behalf. Please report any such request to edtech@hivecolab.com.
