About Yiya Solutions
Yiya Engineering Solutions is an inclusive Ugandan EdTech venture redefining access to education for underserved learners through telecom-native learning technologies. Its flagship platform, AirLearning, delivers high-quality, skills-based education to last-mile youth without requiring internet connectivity or smartphones. The venture addresses a critical challenge across Africa, where millions of learners, particularly rural youth, refugees, and out-of-school populations, remain excluded from digital learning due to infrastructure limitations, high data costs, and device accessibility barriers.
AirLearning leverages existing and widely available infrastructure, including radio, USSD, SMS, voice systems, and AI-powered voice tutoring, to make education accessible through even the most basic feature phones. By meeting learners where they are, Yiya Engineering Solutions is expanding access to structured learning opportunities for highly marginalised communities. The platform integrates interactive radio instruction with mobile-based engagement tools that guide learners through lessons, quizzes, assignments, and assessments. Through AirVoice, its AI-powered voice tutor, learners can access voice-based educational support and revision tools in low-connectivity environments.
Each learning session is structured to include interactive lesson delivery, learner engagement, content reinforcement, and follow-up activities, creating a highly engaging and practical learning experience. Yiya’s model demonstrates strong potential for scale due to its low infrastructure dependency and ability to reach learners through existing telecommunications systems.
The venture’s approach also aligns strongly with digital inclusion and workforce readiness priorities by enabling vulnerable youth populations to access practical and livelihood-orientated education. By combining educational innovation with accessibility, Yiya Engineering Solutions is building a scalable pathway toward equitable learning access for underserved communities across Uganda and beyond.
